Santa Cruz Film Festival attracts worldwide submissions to its annual 10-day screening party of feature-length films, shorts and documentaries.
The allure of the festival lay not only in the breadth and quality of its selections, but also in the venue itself; a beachfront community replete with redwoods, farmland, mountains, fine dining, shopping, and museums, with proximity to San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Monterey Bay.
Santa Cruz County is home to many of the celluloid and literary greats, among them Alfred Hitchcock, Saul Bellow and Jack Kerouac. Lost Boys was filmed at the local Boardwalk, and "The Birds" was based on a local real-life anomaly of nature.
The Festival website reflects the beauty of Santa Cruz in animated photo montages and snapshots throughout.
